‭(Hidden)‬ What Are the Benefits of Design-Build Delivery?

With the Design-Build delivery method, right-of-way (ROW) acquisition, processing permits, and the entire design can all occur concurrently with construction. This differs from traditional project delivery, in which these activities occur prior to construction beginning. The Design-Build method accelerates the project delivery schedule by overlapping the design and construction phases. This method benefits the public by reducing construction times, mitigating travel impacts as much as possible, and maximizing the use of resources and the project budget.

Additionally, Design-Build is best-suited for those projects that generally require acceleration, projects that have unique opportunities to appropriately transfer risk to the Design-Build Team, and/or projects with opportunities for innovation where it has the potential to significantly decrease contract time, reduce costs and/or improve the safety and quality of the facility.

‭(Hidden)‬ Who Is Office of Innovative Delivery?

The Office of Innovative Delivery (OID) focuses on effective and accelerated delivery of various transportation projects and programs, designed to have positive impacts on improving mobility for motorists and freight. In addition, these projects make a positive contribution to growing the economy in Georgia and the Atlanta region. The Design-Build and P3 programs, as well as the Major Mobility Investment Program (MMIP) all fall under the OID.
