As a primary Grant recipient responsible for administering FTA funds, GDOT is responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive Grant Management oversight activities. These activities are designed to educate, evaluate and ensure that all subgrantees are informed and in compliance with FTA required reporting.
It must be noted that although the FTA funding regulations are sometimes similar to The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), it is the FTA specific rules that govern Transit programs. FTA evaluates grantee adherence to grant administration requirements through a comprehensive oversight program and conducts periodic oversight review and/or site visits.
The Georgia DOT Transit Program, is committed to following the established Federal Transit Administration (FTA) Title VI guidelines and regulations detailed in FTA Circular 4702.1B, to ensure no person shall be excluded from participation in, or is denied the benefits of, or is subjected to discrimination under any program or activity receiving federal financial assistance from the Department of Transportation on the grounds of race, color, age, sex, disability or national origin.
GDOT’s commitment and oversight extends to providing ongoing technical assistance, training and communications to all sub recipients of federal funds. All sub recipients must be in compliance with the Title VI Program requirements.

The Human Services Transportation Plan is a joint effort between the Georgia Department of Human Resources, Georgia Department of Community Health and the Georgia Department of Transportation to assess the RHST efforts within Georgia.
Georgia DOT is working with Department of Human Services (DHS) and Department of Community Health (DCH) to update the State’s Coordinated Rural and Human Services Transportation (RHST) Plan. To date, this effort has involved assessing the current extent of coordinated RHST efforts within Georgia and identifying ways to serve more trips across the state by improving efficiency, reducing redundancy, and leveraging new funding opportunities. Study efforts have been ongoing since 2010 and the current phase of activity will continue through March 2012.
