Project Description:
The proposed project consists of widening Post Road from SR 9 (Atlanta Hwy.) to Kelly Mill Road (PI 0006915) and from Kelly Mill Road to SR 20 (PI 0013965). The project is located west of the City of Cuming in west Forsyth County. The project lengths are 3.64 miles (PI 006915) and 2.38 miles (PI 0013965). The proposed design includes two lanes in each direction with a 16-foot raised median. The design speed is 45 mph. The proposed urban shoulder widths are 10 feet on the west side with 2¿-6¿ curb and gutter and 5-foot sidewalk and 16 feet on the east side with 2¿-6¿ curb and gutter and 10-foot sidewalk. In addition to the widening, operational access at all intersections will be investigated to determine access and intersection control types. Combined or independent letting for the two projects will be determined during final design phase based on final cost estimates.
