Buckle Up Phone Down​

 

The Buckle Up Phone Down initiative is an opportunity to make Georgia roads safer by encouraging motorists to wear seatbelts and put their phones away while driving. This is a nationwide movement urging all drivers and passengers to adopt these life-saving habits. ​

Buckling up is one of the most effective safety measures to protect drivers and passengers in a crash.  

Saves Lives
Seat belts reduce the risk of fatal injury for front-seat occupants.

Reduce Risk of Ejection
Buckling up helps prevent occupants from being ejected from a vehicle.​​

Airbag Effectiveness
 A seat belt keeps occupants in the best position for the airbag to provide maximum protection. ​

 

Phone Down

Using a phone while driving can increase the risk of a crash and impair driving performance. ​​

Distracted Driving
Texting takes a driver's eyes off the road for an average of five seconds.

Slower Reaction Time
Using a mobile device can reduce a driver's reaction to sudden traffic changes​ on the road. ​​

Hands-Free
In Georgia, drivers are prohibited from holding a phone while operating a vehicle. ​​​
