A Guide to Historic Covered Bridges of Georgia

This is a guide to the historic covered bridges in the State of Georgia. The purpose is to inform, educate and entertain people on Georgia's few remaining covered bridges. In the middle 1990's, the Georgia DOT used ISTEA enhancement funds to rehabilitate these bridges for future generations to explore and enjoy.

The DOT and Georgia Historical Society have unveiled historical markers at Poole's Mill, Coheelee Creek, Euharlee, Howard's, Cromer's Mill, Elder's Mill, Red Oak and Stovall Mill covered bridges. The text and a picture for each marker is available by a link on that bridge's main page.

Georgia celebrates its historic covered bridges.  Covered Bridge Festival Week, May 7-14, 2008, will include festivities at each covered bridge site.  Click on the bridge links below to see what is happening.
