This includes US, State, county, and city bridges. Each side of a divided bridge was collected as a separate bridge centerline. Linear features were obtained on-site with a vehicle mounted Trimble ProXRS/GeoExplorer Series GPS receiver, using real-time Omnistar or SBAS (WAAS) Satellite Base Augmentation System satellite differential (C/A signal) GPS corrections on civilian frequencies. Differential post processing correction was applied to enhance data accuracy when real-time Omnistar or SBAS (WAAS) was unavailable. Spatial data was checked for quality using georeferenced SDE Atlanta 2004 aerial photo and Mr. SID raster layers in ArcMap-ARCINFO v. 9.x. Multipathing errors were removed by deleting vertices. No vertices were added in the editing process. Attribute accuracy was cross checked with the BIMS-Bridge Information Management System GIS data layer. All Data was exported out of Pathfinder Office v. 3.x in geographic coordinates into ArcMap-ArcInfo 9.x shapefiles. All reprojections were conducted using ArcMap-ArcInfo v. 9.x, using projection and transformation toolset under Data Management Tools in Arc Toolbox or ArcView v. 3.x Projection Utility Wizard. This data was developed for the Georgia Department of Transportation to update and maintain Georgia BIMS Bridge Information Management System GIS data layer. BIMS data sources were used to identify bridges for GPS collection. When complete, the Georgia bridge layer shall serve as a part of the statewide basemap BIMS GIS data layer.
