Freight in all forms must travel efficiently and effectively across Georgia’s transportation network. To ensure that Georgia’s transportation system is in balance with the demand for freight and logistics, GDOT and its partners developed Georgia’s first comprehensive, statewide freight and logistics plan.
Aviation programs guide airport development, promote viable scheduled air service and assure a well-maintained system of publicly owned airports.
The Georgia Rail System is made up of passenger rail, commuter rail and freight rail service, which consists of over 5,000 route miles.
Georgia's transit programs provide mobility choice and are a key part of Georiga's ability to mitigate congestion, improve air quality and facilitate economic development needs.
The Waterways program maintains the navigability of the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway and Georgia's deep water ports in Savannah and Brunswick.
