Advisory Committee
The Department formed a Safe Route to School Advisory Committee in October 2006. The Committee is managed by the GDOT SRTS Coordinator. It is comprised of individuals representing various disciplines including: transportation, safety, local state, and federal government, public health, education, bicycle and pedestrian advocacy groups, nonprofit organizations, and law enforcement.
The Committee's role is to assist in developing and recommending selection criteria, project eligibility, application requirements, marketing, and outreach and project delivery. The Committee also works with the GDOT SRTS Coordinator to create an evaluation process, training, and workshops and will provide recommendations to GDOT for the Safe Routes to School Program.
