I-75 South (Atlanta to Macon)
Overview
Georgia DOT Office of Planning has initiated the I-75 South Corridor and Subarea Master Plan, one of the State’s busiest and most vital transportation corridors connecting the growing Metro Atlanta region and the Macon region in central Georgia. This key facility also serves as a key connection to the Georgia coastal region and the Port of Savannah.
The study will address the short and long range needs along the corridor through the study’s horizon year (2040), and will provide multi-modal recommendations based upon assessments of state and local road networks, local and intercity transit systems and freight and passenger rail. One of the study’s primary objectives is to develop and recommend conceptual improvements and projects to the I-75 South Corridor, including specific interchange area recommendations to improve access. The study will also identify potential land use and development strategies in regards to how they affect traffic conditions today and in the future. The final Master Plan will present an action plan with specific implementation steps identified.
