Metro Atlanta Operational Planning Study

Metro Atlanta Operational Planning Study

The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) is conducting the Metro Atlanta Operational Planning Study (OPS) to evaluate potential operational improvements to metro Atlanta’s existing transportation system along limited access facilities. By identifying current and forecasted operational and safety issues and evaluating potential low-cost improvements, which can be quickly implemented, a prioritized list of operational projects will be generated.

This study is a coordinated effort with the Atlanta Regional Managed Lanes Implementation Plan (MLIP), which will focus on capacity projects where operational improvements are not sufficient to address congestion.
