Upcoming Opportunities to Provide Feedback

In order to gauge the level of satisfaction experienced by the traveling public, the project team will be soliciting your help. Telephone surveys will be conducted at the 25 percent, 50 percent, 75 percent, and 100 percent project completion points for the project.

During the first three telephone surveys, the public will be asked "How satisfied are you with the approach used to construct the new facility in terms of minimizing disruption?"

An additional question will be asked during the last telephone survey completed for the project: "How satisfied are you with the new facility?"

The public's participation in these surveys is key to determining the success of this project.

 Completed Public Involvement Activities

Public involvement was an essential component of completing the environmental document for the West Point 85 Interchange project. Public suggestions, comments, and concerns continually factored into project decision making.

Open Houses

During the development of the environmental document for this project, Georgia DOT hosted two public open houses: a public information open house (PIOH), and a public hearing open house (PHOH). These open houses gave the public an opportunity to learn more about the project and to voice comments or concerns. Open houses were advertised as widely as possible, including meeting announcements published in The Valley Times News and The Lagrange Daily News, project newsletters, and other media sources.

The PIOH was held in the West Point Gym on Tuesday, July 25, 2006. More than 400 people were in attendance. Visitors studied maps of possible alternatives, asked questions of project team members, and provided valuable feedback. The comments received during this period were processed and provided to the project team for consideration.

The PHOH was held in the Gray Hill Community Center on December 14, 2006. More than 200 people were in attendance. Visitors studied maps and visual displays of the preferred alternative (including a computer rendering of the project), asked questions of project team members, and provided valuable feedback. The comments received during this period were processed and provided to the project team for consideration.
