Salary and Benefits
Promotional Pay Increases
Workers start at a competitive salary, and each subsequent promotion that involves a paygrade increase typically results in a 10% pay increase.
Annual Pay Increases
Annual raises come every October through a Pay-for-Performance salary structure as approved by the State Legislature.
Health Insurance
Health insurance (employer covers approximately 75% of premium). The number of health-care provider options available to workers depends upon where they reside.
Flexible Benefits Program
A cafeteria style plan in which employees purchase those insurance coverages that fit their needs. Available coverages include:
- Life insurance (up to 5 times annual salary)
- Short- and long-term disability insurance
- Dental insurance (three different options from which to choose)
- Vision plan
- Legal insurance
- Spending Accounts for medical and childcare expenses (pre-tax money allocated to special accounts for medical or childcare expenses - allows employee to use pre-tax dollars to pay these expenses.)
Retirement
Standard retirement occurs with 30 years of service; benefits are non-exhaustive, do not expire, and reflect periodic cost-of-living increases.
Deferred Compensation
A portion of employee's salary can be deferred into pre-tax accounts of these types:
- 401K and 457 plans available
Leave
- Annual leave (vacation) = rate of leave accumulation
a. 3 weeks/year* for the first 5 years;
b. 3 weeks +3 days/year* for years 6-10;
c. 4 weeks +1 day/year* after 10 years
* Annual leave is not a "use-or-lose" situation each year; it can accumulate up to a maximum of 9 weeks.
- Sick leave = 3 weeks/year. With a maximum accumulation of 18 weeks.
- Personal leave = up to 3 days per year potentially convertible from Sick Leave (120 SL minimum).
Comp time = accumulated time over 40 hr worked each week. May be taken in large blocks of time at a later date.
- Holidays = 12 paid days per year
