Project Description:
The proposed project is located approximately 9.5 miles west of Athens, GA and consists of the intersection of State Route (SR) 8/SR 316/United States (US) and Jimmy Daniel Road. State Route 8/SR 316/US 29 at Jimmy Daniel Road is currently an at grade, signalized intersection that would be reconstructed as a grade separated diamond interchange. For staging purposes, the crossing would be reconstructed slightly east of Jimmy Daniel Road¿s current location. Proposed auxiliary lanes would be constructed parallel to eastbound and westbound SR 8/SR 316/US 29 to provide access between Jimmy Daniel Road and the Oconee Connector. The proposed auxiliary lanes would consist of a single, 12-foot-wide eastbound travel lane and a single, 12-foot-wide westbound travel lane both with 12-foot wide inside shoulder (8-foot paved) and 14-foot-wide outside shoulders (12-foot paved). The total project length would be approximately 1.5 mile.
