I-285 & SR 400 Improvements

The proposed improvements are designed to aid in reducing traffic congestion and improve safety in the area surrounding the I-285/SR 400 interchange in metro Atlanta. New flyover ramps, new collector-distributor lanes and other facilities to aid east-west travel on along I-285 and north-south travel along SR 400 would be constructed.

The proposed improvements are achieved in two projects:

  • I-285/SR 400 Interchange Reconstruction P.I. # 0000784
  • SR 400 Collector-Distributor (CD) Lanes P.I. # 721850-

Finalists have been selected for consideration to design, build and partially finance the Georgia DOT’s I-285 & SR 400 Reconstruction Project.

Project Informaton

In order to achieve maximum efficiency, economic benefit and cost-effectiveness for the region, the Department now proposes to construct the two stand-alone projects as one Design-Build-Finance (DBF), Public-Private Partnership (P3). The combined design-build cost is estimated at $1.056 billion..

 I-285/SR 400 Interchange Reconstruction

 

Description

The proposed project aims to improve travel times and safety in the vicinity of the I-285/SR 400 interchange. This project is a priority for the metro Atlanta region and will be advanced through innovative project delivery efforts.

The proposed project is expected to be constructed by Design Build Finance (DBF), Public Private Partnership (P3). The design-build cost of the project is estimated at $725.9 million, which includes the cost of preliminary design, environmental approval, right of way acquisition, final design, construction, utility relocations, construction engineering and inspection (CEI), and insurance.

 SR 400 CD Lanes System

 

Description

The proposed project aims to improve travel times and safety in the vicinity of the I-285/SR 400 interchange by constructing new north-south Collector-Distributor (CD) lanes along SR 400. The proposed project will be let by Design Build Finance (DBF), Public Private Partnership (P3). The design-build cost is estimated at $329.8 million which includes the cost of preliminary design, environmental approval, right of way acquisition, final design, construction, utility relocations, construction engineering and inspection (CEI), and insurance.
