To improve mobility on I-285, Georgia DOT plans to add new, optional express lanes consisting of one new buffer-separated express lane in each direction on I-285 between I-20 and Henderson Road in DeKalb County. The I-285 Eastside Express Lanes will be part of the larger Georgia Express Lanes system.

Public Information Open Houses

The Georgia DOT will host a series of Public Information Open Houses (PIOH) to present the project to the public, answer questions and receive comments.

  1. Adds new lane miles along I-285
  2. Contributes to reducing 6,000+ hours of delay each day on the top half of I-285*
  3. Provides access for transit and vanpools

 Project Status

Georgia DOT will soon be performing environmental field work and traffic analysis for the project. The schedule is subject to change.

The project is part of Georgia DOT’s Major Mobility Investment Program, which currently includes an initial 11 large-scale projects that will build a better Georgia by enhancing mobility and safety, fueling economic growth, and improving Georgians’ quality of life.
