I-20 @ Savannah River Bridge Replacements

Georgia DOT and South Carolina DOT are replacing and widening the existing I-20 bridges over the Augusta Canal and Savannah River within the city of Augusta, Richmond County, Georgia and the city of North Augusta, Aiken County, South Carolina. The project replaces the existing bridges with new structures to improve safety and operations along I-20.

Quick Facts

The project represents the first bi-state agreement between Georgia and South Carolina for a Design-Build project.

The project will widen 1.8 miles of I-20, replace four bridges over the Augusta Canal and Savannah River, and make intersection improvements at the West Martintown Rd Interchange in South Carolina.

The project will cost $82.5 million and is scheduled to be completed in Q1 2022.
