Georgia DOT's research and development program is broad-based and is aimed at applying new technology to the full range of GDOT activities. The program includes in-house research, contract research, and participation in national research activities.


2016 Transportation Research Expo

Georgia DOT’s Office of Research and the Georgia Transportation Institute (GTI) hosted the fourth annual Transportation Research Expo on Tuesday, September 13, 2016, The Expo showcased 82 active and recently completed Georgia DOT sponsored research projects conducted by GTI researchers. The projects covered a range of topics including planning, the environment, materials, construction and operations. GTI includes academia at the following colleges: Georgia Tech, University of Georgia, Georgia State, Georgia Southern, Kennesaw State, Mercer, Albany State, Savannah State and West Georgia.

    Roy A. Flynt Memorial Library includes more than 18,000 volumes of transportation-related books, reports, journals, and specifications from a variety of sources including AASHTO, ASTM, FHWA, TRB and others.

    Georgia DOT provides matching funding for the Georgia Transportation Institute Univeristy Transportation Center (GTI-UTC).This link will direct you to a non-GDOT website. The GTI-UTC is a consortium of Georgia universities active in transportation research and education and is a Tier I University Transportation Center with Federal sponsorship.
